This is my first devlog here on my quaint little Tumblr page. I plan on doing these once a week, so, let’s go (?).
To start things let’s introduce my lil’ project to ya lads.
At the start of the year I had this 💡 to make some sort of detective cyberpunk game heavily inspired by Snatcher, – story heavy and with a 🌍 with lots of depth and little secrets – but with more action and interactivity and less menus. Think of it as some sort of visual-novel/action sidescroller hybrid. Let’s call it by its very stupid temporary title, CYBERDETECTIVE 2042: MAXIMUM INVESTIGATION.
Since i’m a disgusting NEET I have pretty much the whole day to work on it. I initially asked a friend of mine to program it for me in Unity, but he’s pretty busy with other stuff so now i’m programming it myself in GameMaker so at least one chapter is done until the end of the year.
So what’s done at the moment? Welp, there’s a good number of assets, but not much to show on the gameplay side of things since programming started just last monday. The dialog, interaction and inventory systems are kinda done, but still a bit rough. My art also leaves me unsatisfied sometimes but I guess it works for now.
All things considered it’s nice that the project is moving. I literally didn’t go to college this year so I could work on games and to finally 👀 some progress is really satisfying. Hopefully y’all enjoy 👀 the game getting made as much as I like making it.
